1YR Project – AUGUST – Week 4 – Day 29
Did a little bit of clean up and additional sculpt on the face in zbrush. Adding more asymmetry into the sculpt and adjust here and there. Also did some Maya lighting test.....the displacement and normal map just end up crazy -_- guess it's some what a good start......

1YR Project – AUGUST – Week 3 – Day 25
Today I got spare 30 minutes before works, so I figured I can do a quick Zbrush sculpt. Since I don't really have that much time, I started with referencing "Animals Real and Imagined: Fantasy of What Is and What Might Be by Gilbert Banducci and Terryl Whitlatch" and just randomly pick a design.
I ended up choosing this elephant design. (I will post a scan later) The book is really awesome if you want to have a cool reference.
Anyhow, I am really rusty with zbrush. Even though it only have been a week or so, I am sort of lost in the mid way. I started with a simple sphere, turned it into dynamesh, insert some sphere, insert some cylinder and then sculpt around that. It was a struggle on the tusk area especially.....and time was up :( It was a good warm up tho, really get me going to try to use the new insert tools. PLLLLUUUUUS I haven't even start using Zbrush4R4 yet with the new curve tools and new remesh tool. Really need to start to adjust my workflow to updated version T_T.....

1YR Project – AUGUST – Week 2 – Day 24
Hi Guys, It's been a week that I haven't post anything. The past week was a really busy week at work. If any of you were a WWE fans, you probably witness some of my graphics package from this Sunday Pay-Per-View SummerSlam. It was so busy that I barely catch any sleep....which costing the effects on this project T_T
Anyhow, I was able to finish some of these turntable for the Quadrocarrier. Just wasn't able to find times to post it. Now the Pay-Per-View is over, I finally got some free time to get it back together.

1YR Project – JULY – Week 4 – Day 17
Here goes another week! Man I just want to wrap this guy up and move to a new creature....but I know this will turn out great in the end T_T Anyhow, no complain, I'm just gonna keep chugging it along.
So I came across some way to zbrush a rope from David Langley on Viemo and I have to say it's some awesome quick way to get a rope done in no times......I added some rope and modeled a gasoline container, knife, ax, and a lamp(in Maya), which I still need to added to his back in Zbrush -_- post some progress later today if I get a chance.

Need to go to work today for the new wwe raw stuff..(btw it's sunday)....woke up early, got like an hour to kill, so decided to removed the scale :( it wasn't fitting the character that much anyway.
Now I need to speed it up and add all the stuff in his back and comp it in photoshop :D im thinking something like he is running loose and the owner is chasing in the back.....

Got a bit time tonight while watching the total recall with my wife and try to repaint this guy. I think im gonna get rid of the skin...more i look at it the more i hate it :/




-ps I adjust the day to 9 of the whole project so far instead of day 5 of week 2. Just easier for me to know how I been working on this 1-Yr Project. Gonna keep pushing through it :)

1YR Project – JULY – Week 2 – Day 8
Woke up a bit late today morning....only got half hour to spare :( It was enough time for me to add the teeth :D.....im still debating on the scale. Not sure if I really really like it. It looks not bad, but just not feel natural. I think scale depth might be too much and too big, probably should push it back a bit more.....(I am referencing one of my favorite zbrush sculpt from zbrush centeral Dan Crossland)

From Clay to Zbrush - Cesar Dacol Jr.
Remember the other day I mentioned about helping my instructor with a testimonial? It was a testimonial for my zbrush instructor Cesar Dacol Jr.'s new creature design class that will be coming up very soon over Zbrushworkshop. He have been releasing a bunch of youtube clips of Zbrush demo for those who like to break into creature design industry. For the zbrush demo part it might be too beginner for me. 1YR Project - JULY - Week 2 - Day 5
Welcome back from the July 4th weekend!!! Hope all of you got some nice days off with some nice firework :D......I am sorry I wasn't able to get on the blog for quite some times. It had been a bit brutal for passed couple days T_T I got a bit sidetracked on building my new computer and helping my teacher with a video testimonial (will talk more about it in another thread). But I am back today :)
Here are couple snap test renders I was manage to squeeze out today morning. I got to do a bit more sculpting on the Quadcarrier and a quick color texture pass........I usually like to do a quick color texture on the creature while im still in sculpting mode. This prevent me not spending too much time on the sculpting detail and also trigger me to think about how I would attack on the higher detail of the model.


Here are some of the feedback I got from my friends :D
That's a sweet, chunky beast! Only thing I can see is maybe take a look at the hind leg where it meets the tail. The only reason I notice is from the webinar Scott Hartman did for his class - I think it's still up at visualarium. Unless there are other - more passive tails? - Kara Marfia
