Serious Zbrushing #2 No-More-Wine

Following with the post yesterday I also came across this tutorial while I was at the Zbrush classroom. The tutorial cover how CG artist Simon Blanc going thru his regular zbrush pipeline with his personal project "No-More-Wine". There are about 6 videos so far on the zbrush website. It's not completely finish yet(I think).....although it did cover most of the sculpting part. I was really excited for the polypaint part, however it wasn't in the part of the video tutorial. I do find a bit of the description for his own website here. In the end it is a great tutorial and workflow for people who would like to do some serious zbrushing :)

Serious Zbrushing

So it has been bothering me a lot that I haven't really get to work on Zbrush a lot. Although I do get to work on a lot of things. But now I think I will try to maintain some sort of personal project with this whole zbrush. I will start up with finishing the blowfishman :D then follow by the Jordan skywalker project I work on like last year....

Here are some inspiring ZBrush classroom webcast section. Those are coming from some awesome Zbrush artist :) NOW Go watch them and get inspired

Awesome work of Modern Time

[vimeo 17631561 w=480&h=300]
Just came across this great motion graphic video from Gizmodo. All the animation and the composited work are all done very well. The animation contained very sleek design of the UI and interior setup. Although i think the story didn't really come thru clearly. But it is definitely an awesome work to me :) enjoy!

Modbook Stand 10/01 - 12/15

I just want to take a second to shout out to all other modbook user........Modbook sucks without it's own laptop stand and modbook maker need to make their own stand!!!!! Granted the modbook is awesome as it is,. But without a proper way to hold the modbook, modbook became heavy to use after one hour of used. I just broke my 40 bucks laptop stand and now I have to carry it. The stand I used is called the cricket laptop stand. It suppose made for holding 5-10lbs laptop, which in my case it will hold the modbook....however since a lot of time you will need to press on the modbook to draw there will be additional weight add on top of it. The result? Broken stand!.....I actually just got this stand like 3 months ago....Really upset :( ....although right now I am looking for a newer one. But there is no stand that is capable to handle the weight from drawing without been bulky. Plus it wont be as convenience to carry it around.....If there are any Modbook user out there, let me know wut you guys using T_T

update.....
So I superglued the shit out of the leg......of course it didn't work.....

EVE Online Spaceship Contest

Once again, there is another online contest that is really attractive to me. Only difference is I'm going to stick with it!!! The contest is for EVE online multiplayer game. I have never play this game, but judging by some of the graphic i think i can get a hang of it.....only if I ever get times to play games.....In any case the contest is fairly simple, create/design a spaceship that can be see within in the EVE Online universe. The first place price is not that bad with $900 dolloars in cash and some additional game related prize. On top of the first place, there is also additional 4 winners that can be selected with $400.00 cash prize. The submission must be made by December 21st, 2010. The tricky part is there are 2 round of selection. First round will be selected by the EVE Online community and Second Final selection will be decided by the EVE Online art department. Although I dont think the prize is not that high, however I definitely think this is a good step to start polishing up my skills by going in the contest. If any of you are interested the contest here is the link. I will also continued to post the progress updated under this thread. Wish me luck :) Here are some potential competition....and they are good :(

Updates 12/06/10....
Here are some of the sketches I drew over the weekend. I'm going to furnish it up more and perhaps make a 3d model out of it :) Happy Monday!

Blowfishman Progress report

Hi guys,
It has been awhile ever since my last post. I really didn't get much time to work on some personal project. I have been working with The Weather Network, Skating with the Stars, and some CBS stuff at work. On top of that I also got a freelance gig after work.....too much stuff going on.

In any case, I have been working on this Blowfishman on and off for quite awhile. And now i think it's at some point to share with ppl to get some feedback. So I did everything on this project, starting from the concept drawing of how the character look to 3d modeling in Maya & zBrush. At the moment I am still not quite satisfy with the model yet. I have been doing some testing render here and there. I also did a testing photoshop mock up and have found certain thing that I like. Next I will be doing texturing on the model in zBrush and see where we go from that...

As always feel free to comment anything :D

Here are some concept drawing...

and this is the concept that I end up modeling.....
