Skywalker update

So i finally finish the maya stage with correcting typology of each vertex (painfullll!!!).....especially the hand part. I believe it took me around 3-4 hours to finally get somewhere. Especially with flow of each vertx. It might not be important in the short run.....but it will be pain later if you don't do it correctly.

-reworking the flow of the hand part. can be a pain to do that in zbrush

After the correction in Maya I brought the model back in zbrush and starting to add some detail to the model.

-donno why i really hate the back of the model....-_- need to fix it

-but i got to say i love the side view of the dunk :D

and guess what?? i just remember i need to arrage the UV of the model before bring the model back in zbrush.....T_T just lost several hours of works.....but disregard the UV part it's good progress....and im surprise im not tired of this yet :)

-counting down to the year 2010!!!!

Scott Patton - Concept Artitst of Avatar

Just came across with a nice interview piece on ARTTalk.ru with one of concept artist, Scott Patton, on Avatar. It's a very quick read and give you a sense of how the production work for the movie.

Quote of the day to me - "You have to motivate yourself! Try to learn new things all the time, paint, draw, sculpt anything to make yourself a better artist. I see a lot of young artists who think that just because they went to school for art and 3D that they deserve a great job. That's not how it works!!!!! " - Scott Patton

Have you Avatar???

So i went to see the Avatar in digital 3D last week and I have to say the movie plot is not as great as i thought. I mean I know it took them a really long time to make the movie happened. But I really thought the story can be much better.
Well on the other hand the CG part is given. It's amazing! I love all the compositing of the real actors with all the CG elements. Its seamless, you can't tell which part which. Design part is just a top notch works. (no wonder it took them this long) All the character design and environment design is just beautiful. No more really need to say......It is definitely one of the top VFX movie in 2009 :) if you haven't see it.....i suggest you should.

Siggraph 2009 - Psyop/Mass Market

Just discover this video on AREA and thought it is something great to share with. It's a demonstration of how Psyop and Mass Market made their commercial of Milk: Sad Princess and "Absolut Vodka". For those of you who don't know Psyop....you should. They are just one hell of innovative production/design house based in NY and Mass Market is their the sister company. They both are just as good....definitely check out their website.....

SIGGRAPH 2009 New Orlean

Unfortunately I wasn't able to go to the Siggraph this year. Last year it was actually my first time to at the SIGGRAPH. I was there as a volunteer, which mean free classes and electronic theater. For any of you out there who are interested to be visit SIGGRAPH, but dont have the money. Volunteering is a great way to be in the event without paying a lot and meet a lot of ppl.....Anyhow, I'm talking too much here. Since there are too much to cover in the event....here is a link of Autodesk in-house Video which included some of video from the SIGGRAPH 2009....enjoy :D

Welcoming Zbrush 3.5

So I just got the news last week. This update looks pretty awesome!!!! If you are familiar with the previous version of Zbrush, you will be appreciate this update before Zbrush 4.

Update included some of the following features.....
-ZSphere 2, adding additional geometry modification feature on top with the base design of the original ZSphere
-Spotlight/Lightbox, adding with ability of selecting, modifying, or repeating textures/source images to be use on texturing model without going to another software like Photoshop.
-GoZbrush for Window PC (Mac OSX is already released on the Zbrush 3.2), enable the ability to work from another CG software integrating with ZBrush.

ZBrush 3.5 is expecting release at the end of the August for Window PC and September for Mac OSX.....if you want to read in more with the update it is listed under Zbrush 3.5 update release at Zbrush Central
